Collecting Information about Apple Safari
To assist with resolving the error, Bio-Rad recommends collecting information regarding your Safari browser to help with troubleshooting. Complete the procedures described in the following subsections:
● | Configuring Safari the Display the Troubleshooting Tabs |
● | Capturing the Browser Version |
● | Enabling the Developer Menu |
● | Capturing the Network History |
● | Capturing the JavaScript Console |
● | Capturing the Browser Local Storage |
To record the information, do one of the following:
● | Download and open the BR.io Error Summary Form |
● | Enter the information into the body of an email to Tech Support |
Note: Screen shots that you capture should be stored in the BR.io_Errors folder you created in Taking Screen Shots, in the Mac Computer section.
Configuring Safari to Display the Troubleshooting Tabs
To view and select the tabs specified in the following sections
1. | Open the Safari browser, and click Safari on the menu bar. |

2. | Select Preferences from the dropdown menu to open the Advanced screen. |
3. | Ensure the checkbox for Press Tab to highlight... is selected. |
4. | Click the red circle in the upper-left corner to close the screen. |
Capturing the Browser Version
To identify the browser version
1. | Click the Safari icon ![]() |
2. | In the upper menu bar, click Safari. |
The About Safari screen appears.
3. | Enter the browser version into the error form or email body. |
Enabling the Developer Menu
To add the Developer menu to the Safari menu bar
1. | Click Safari in the upper menu bar. |
2. | Click Preferences. |
The following screen appears, with the Advanced tab selected by default.
3. | Select the Show Develop menu checkbox and then close the screen. |
The Develop option appears in the upper menu bar.
From the Develop menu, you can access the JavaScript Console to capture necessary screen shots.
Capturing the Network History
To capture the browser network history
1. | Click Develop in the Safari menu bar, and then click Show JavaScript Console. |
2. | Select the Network tab. |
3. | Take a screen shot of the entire page and store it in the BRio_Errors folder. |
Capturing the JavaScript Console
To capture the JavaScript Console
1. | Click Develop in the Safari menu bar, and then click Show JavaScript Console. |
2. | Select the Console tab, and then right-click and select Reload Page. |
3. | Take a screen shot of the entire page and store it in the BRio_Errors folder. |
Capturing the Browser Local Storage
To capture the browser local storage
1. | Click Develop in the Safari menu bar, and then click Show JavaScript Console. |
2. | Select the Storage tab, and then click Local Storage on the left. |
